A standard size sofa, or three-seater sofas, is about 90 inches wide in the seating area, 38 inches deep, and 34 inches high. However, this can vary from brand to brand.
2-person sofa: 50″ seating width (does not include width of the arms). 3-person sofa: 78″ seating width (not including arms). 4-person sofa: 90″ seating width (not including sofa arms).

There’s no hard-and-fast rule for sofa sizes, although the standard tends to be 40” deep, 60” wide, 36” long, and with a 19” seat height. But you’ll see ones that are larger and smaller, which allows you to find one that suits your needs.
In general, the width of a small sofa (A) is 72 inches or less, the width of a standard sofa (B) is 84-88 inches and the width of a grand sofa (C) is 96 inches or more. Once you’ve chosen a sofa style and size, you can get an even better idea of what the presence of the sofa will be like in your space.

As nouns the difference between width and depth
is that width is the state of being wide while depth is the vertical distance below a surface; the degree to which something is deep.
Compare the width of your doorframe with the height of your sofa allowing some wiggle room either side. This will determine if we can take the sofa through on its side. If the door width is greater than the height of your sofa, then it will fit through.
If you will have a couch or chair facing a TV, they should be seven to eight feet apart for best viewing. When two pieces of seating furniture are facing each other, they should be about 3 ½ feet apart. Leave about 16 inches between a coffee table and a couch, to allow plenty of leg room.
What Qualifies as Apartment Size Furniture? The first thing you need to know when shopping for small space furniture is, well…it’s small! But an apartment size sleeper sofa or loveseat may not be labeled as such, so knowing a thing or two about dimensions certainly helps.
Sofas vary in size, from 6 to 8 feet long and 32 to 40 inches deep for a standard size sofa, to 4 to 6 feet long and 28 to 30 inches deep for a loveseat. The actual depth of the seating area is reduced by the depth of the sofa’s arms and back of the sofa.
Standard couch cushions are square. On a normal three person couch with smaller cushions, cushions are typically 18 inches or 20 inches square. However, larger couches often have cushions that are 24 inches square or larger.
The three person sofa is the perfect size for most rooms. It most commonly has a seating space of 78” (6 ½ feet), not including the width of the arm rests. The total width including the arm rests is usually 84-inches wide.
To Measure Seat Width:
Seat width measures the seat and determines cushion size as well as the distance between each arm. When measuring seat width, consider which part of the patient’s seat is the widest apart (hips or knees).
A general guideline is to sit between 1.5 to 2.5 times the diagonal screen measurement away, with about a 30-degree viewing angle. For example, if you have a 40″ TV, you should be sitting somewhere between 5 and 8.3 feet from the screen.
Measurement: Length, width, height, depth.
